Origins of the word "Honeymoon"

When we researched some ancient references to bees, honey and wax, we found a very sweet story about the origins of the word "honeymoon".

In the olden days whena couple was getting married, it was the responsibility of the parents of the bride to arrange with a local beekeeper to give the couple a "moon's worth of honey" ~ i.e. 30 days of honey. The young couple was instructed to share a certain amount of honey with each other in their tea, on a spoon or any creative way they could image to ingest it.

This was purported to 'sweeten' the relationship and ensure a good union. A bonus was extended to the beekeeper depending on how soon the bride conceived and a better bonus depending on gender.

This tradition has unfortunately been completely lost, however we feel it should be reactivated. Let us know if you have a wedding coming up in your family and we would be glad to connect you to the most amazing natural cream honey available in North America.
